こんにちは、京華です。
18日からアメリカと中国の外交当局のトップ会談がありました。
冒頭からずいぶんエキサイティングだったようですね。
実は、私、密かにこの会談を楽しみにしていました。
なぜなら、アメリカ側にブリンケン国務長官、中国側に王毅外相が出るからです。
二人は私の好みのタイプ。一度に二人が見れるチャンスです（笑）
そんな私の個人的な楽しみはどうでも良いのですが、
会談の内容を、全文英語で書いてみようかなーと思い立ち、ついでに英語の勉強もしようと思いました。
英文はサイトからの引用なので正しいですが、日本語訳は意訳だし所々間違っていると思うので、お許しを。

Well, good afternoon, and welcome.
On behalf of national security adviser Sullivan and myself, I want to welcome Director Yang and State Councilor Wang to Alaska, and to thank you very much for making the journey to be with us.

I just returned myself from meetings with Secretary of Defense Austin and our counterparts in Japan and the Republic of Korea, two of our nation’s closest allies.

They were very interested in the discussions that we’ll have here today and tomorrow because the issues that we’ll raise are relevant not only China and the United States, but to others across the region and indeed around the world.
（彼らは今日と明日行われるこの話し合いにとても関心を持っています。なぜなら、我らの間で持ち上がっている問題は、中国とアメリカだけの問題じゃなく、他の地域、いやそれどころか世界中に関係のあることだからです）
Our administration is committed to leading with diplomacy to advance the interests of the United States and to strengthen the rules-based international order.

That system is not an abstraction.
（そのシステム（ルールに基づく国際秩序）は、抽象的なものではありません）
It helps countries resolve differences peacefully, coordinate multilateral efforts effectively and participate in global commerce with the assurance that everyone is following the same rules.
（各国が平和的に相違点を解決したり、効果的に多国間の努力を調整したり、みんなが同じルールに従っていると確信できてる国際的な商取引に参加するのに、それは役に立っています）
The alternative to a rules-based order is a world in which might makes right and winners take all, and that would be a far more violent and unstable world for all of us.
（国際ルールに基づく秩序に取って代わろうとするものは、強いもの勝ちの勝者が総取りするような世界で、そんな世界は私たち全員にとって暴力的で不安定な世界になるでしょう）
Today, we’ll have an opportunity to discuss key priorities, both domestic and global, so that China can better understand our administration’s intensions and approach.
（今日は、中国が我ら政権の意図とアプローチをより理解できるよう、国内的・国際的にカギとなる優先事項を話し合う機会になるでしょう）
We’ll also discuss our deep concerns with actions by China, including in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan, cyberattacks on the United State and economic coercion toward our allies.
（また、中国の行動に対する我々の深い懸念ー新疆、香港、台湾、アメリカへのサイバー攻撃、同盟国への経済的な威圧を含むーについても話し合います）
Each of these actions threaten the rules-based order that maintains global stability.
（これらの行為はどれも、世界の安定を維持するルールに基づいた秩序を脅かすものです）
That why they’re not merely internal matters and why we feel an obligation to raise these issues here today.
（だから単なる内政問題ではなく、本日この場でこれらの問題を取り上げる必要があると考えます）
I said that the United States’ relationship with China will be competitive where it should be, collaborative where it can be, adversarial where it must be.
（中国とアメリカの関係は競争するべきところは競争する、協力できるところは協力する、敵対しなければならないところは敵対する）
Our discussions here in Alaska, I suspect, will run the gamut.
（ここアラスカでの私たちの協議は、私は予測するに、広範囲のテーマになるでしょう）
Our intent is to be direct about our concerns, direct about our priorities, with the goal of a more clear-eyed relationship between our countries moving forward.
（われら両国の関係をもっと前進させるというはっきりとした目標をもちつつ、私たちの懸念に関すること、優先事項に関する事について、ダイレクトに伝えたい）

勉強になったこと
Secretary of State: セクレタリーと言えば「秘書」ですが、合衆国の秘書は「国務長官」になるんですね。
on behalf of: ～を代表して
allies [ally（アライ）複数形]：同盟国（アライアンスとかいいますよね。そこから連想できます）
counterpart: 割り符、副本、片割れ、よく似たもの、相対物
relevant: 妥当な、関連して
indeed: 実に、まったく、なるほど、いかにも、それどころか
administration: 管理、統治、行政、当局、政府（主に米）
commit: まかせる、関わり合いにさせる、罪を犯す（ライザップじゃないけど、なんか約束する？みたいな感じ）
abstraction：抽象、抽象概念
coordinate：対等にする、調整する
multilateral：多国間の（multi-から、なにかが多いのだろうと予想されます）
assurance：保険、保証、確信（保険は他にもinsuranceがあります）
might makes right：強いもの勝ち（こういう言い方、英語らしい）
coercion（コエレション）: 強制、威圧、弾圧
obligation：義務、義理、恩義、おかげ、債務、債権関係、債務証書、債券、証券
